Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about WeblixTools: privacy, favicons and app icons, the AI icon generator and the free in-browser PDF tools.
General
Is WeblixTools free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no sign-up. The AI Icon Generator has a small daily limit of free generations per visitor.
Are my uploaded images or logos sent to an external server?
No. WeblixTools processes 100% of your assets entirely within your browser using client-side HTML5 Canvas and JSZip. No images, text strings, or design data are ever transmitted, stored, or analyzed remotely.
How do I set up icons in Next.js 14 and Next.js 15 App Router?
Simply drop icon.svg and apple-icon.png directly into your app/ folder. Next.js automatically detects these files and generates the matching metadata tags in your HTML output without any manual configuration.
What makes an SVG favicon better than an ICO file?
SVG favicons are resolution-independent vectors that remain tack-sharp on 4K, 5K, and 8K monitors while consuming less than 1 kilobyte of bandwidth. Crucially, SVGs support internal CSS media queries to automatically change colors when users toggle dark mode.
How can I force browsers to clear aggressive favicon caching?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. During development, add a cache-busting query parameter (e.g., /icon.svg?v=2) or clear browser cache specifically for host assets in Chrome DevTools under Application → Storage → Clear site data.
Can I use WeblixTools assets for commercial applications?
Yes! All generated files and assets are 100% royalty-free and yours to use for personal, open-source, client, or enterprise commercial products with zero restrictions.
Do the PDF tools upload my files?
No. Merging, splitting, rotating, watermarking and the other PDF tools all run in your browser tab. Your files never leave your device.
How do I get help or report a problem?
Click the Help button in the corner of any page to chat with us, or use the contact page. Ask for a human in the chat and the team will reply.

Favicon Studio (homepage)
Open tool →Are my uploaded images or logos sent to an external server?

AI Icon Generator
Open tool →Is the AI icon generator free?
Yes. Each visitor gets a number of free AI generations per day. Customising the icon and exporting favicons in the Studio is always free and unlimited.
Can I use the generated icons commercially?
You can use icons you generate for your own websites, apps and client projects. Avoid prompts that copy existing trademarks or logos, as the AI may reproduce protected designs.
What should I write in the description?
Name the main object, what your product does and the mood you want, for example “a paper plane inside a circle for an email app, friendly and modern”. Short, concrete descriptions work best.
Why choose “Symbol only”?
A symbol on a plain background is easiest to customise: the Studio adds a squircle, circle or rounded background with your own gradient, so the icon matches your brand on every platform.
Which file formats can I export?
You can download the generated image directly, or open it in the Studio to export favicon.ico, PNG favicons, a dark-mode SVG favicon, Apple touch icons, Android adaptive icons and a web manifest.
Is my description stored?
Your description is sent to our AI provider to create the image and kept briefly in our logs to prevent abuse. Don't include personal or confidential information.
Dynamic SVG Favicon Generator
Open tool →How does the SVG dark mode favicon work?
The generated SVG file embeds a @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) stylesheet directly in the vector markup. Browsers evaluate this CSS dynamically to switch icon colors instantly.
Do I still need a favicon.ico if I use an SVG favicon?
Yes, keep it as a fallback. Older browsers and some crawlers still request /favicon.ico, so the download includes a multi-size ICO alongside icon.svg.
Why does my SVG favicon not change when I switch dark mode?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Hard-reload the page or add a version query such as /icon.svg?v=2 to the link tag after you replace the file.
Dynamic Dark Mode Favicon Generator
Open tool →How do browsers know which icon color to show?
Modern browsers evaluate embedded CSS media queries inside the SVG file to select the active fill color based on the user's OS preference.
Which browsers support dark mode favicons?
Browsers that render SVG favicons (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and recent Safari) evaluate the media query inside the file. Others fall back to your ICO or PNG, which uses a solid tile so it stays visible in both themes.
Can I use a transparent background?
Yes, but check the dark preview carefully. A transparent icon with dark artwork is exactly the case that disappears on dark tabs.
Emoji to Favicon & App Icon Converter
Open tool →Are emoji favicons supported on all devices?
Yes, our tool rasterizes the emoji into crisp PNG and ICO assets for legacy browsers while also creating a vector SVG for modern browsers.
Is it legal to use emoji as a favicon?
Emoji characters are a Unicode standard, but the artwork belongs to each platform vendor. For a commercial brand, consider using the emoji only as a placeholder until you have your own mark.
Why does my emoji look different from the preview on another computer?
The PNG and ICO files are drawn with the emoji font of the device that generated them. Generate on the platform whose emoji style you prefer.
Text & Monogram Favicon Generator
Open tool →Can I customize the font and letter colors?
You can set the letter colour, the background colour or gradient, the corner radius and the padding. Letters are drawn in your system's bold sans-serif font so they stay crisp at 16×16.
How many letters should a favicon have?
One is ideal and two is the practical maximum. At 16×16 pixels each letter gets only a few pixels of width, so three or more letters become unreadable.
Can I upload my own logo instead?
Yes. Switch the studio to Upload Logo to use a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG file. It is processed entirely in your browser.
Android Adaptive & Maskable Icon Generator
Open tool →What is a maskable PWA icon?
Maskable icons include extra safe-zone padding so the Android launcher can crop them into circles, squircles, or rounded rectangles without clipping the logo.
What padding should a maskable icon use?
Keep the important artwork inside the centre 80% circle. In practice a padding of about 10–15% in the studio keeps most glyphs safe on every launcher shape.
Does this generate native Android launcher layers?
The bundle includes ic_launcher PNGs and PWA manifest icons. For a native Android app, use Android Studio's Image Asset tool to build separate foreground, background and monochrome layers from the 512 px PNG.
Next.js App Router Favicon Generator
Open tool →Where do I put the downloaded files in a Next.js project?
Place favicon.ico, icon.svg, and apple-icon.png directly in your /app root directory. Next.js handles serving and caching automatically.
Why is my old favicon still showing in Next.js?
Delete any old favicon.ico in public/ (it can shadow the app/ version), restart the dev server and hard-reload. Browsers cache favicons for a long time.
Can I generate the icon dynamically with icon.tsx?
Yes. Next.js supports app/icon.tsx with ImageResponse, but a static icon.svg is smaller, supports dark mode and needs no server rendering.
iOS 18 App Icon & Xcode Catalog Generator
Open tool →What is an iOS 18 Tinted icon?
In iOS 18, users can customize their home screen by tinting all app icons with an accent color. Apple recommends providing a high-contrast monochrome version to prevent automated clipping artifacts.
Do I need every icon size for iOS 18?
No. Xcode 14 and later accept a single 1024×1024 image per appearance and generate the smaller sizes at build time, which is the format this tool exports.
Will the App Store reject a transparent app icon?
Yes. App Store icons must be opaque. Keep a solid background colour or gradient for the iOS export.
Image tools
Image Color Picker
Open tool →Are my images uploaded?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Your images never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Which colour formats do I get?
HEX (like #4F46E5), RGB (rgb(79, 70, 229)) and HSL (hsl(243, 75%, 59%)). Click the copy button next to any of them.
How is the palette chosen?
The tool groups similar pixels together and shows the most common distinct colours, ordered from most to least used. Tiny details and transparent pixels are ignored.
Can I pick a colour from outside the image?
Yes, in Chrome and Edge on desktop: click Pick from screen and then click anywhere on your screen. Other browsers don't support this yet.
Image Compressor & Converter
Open tool →Are my images uploaded?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Your images never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Which quality should I choose?
75–85% is a good balance for photos and website images. Go higher for images with fine text or sharp edges, lower if file size matters most.
Why is my PNG not getting smaller?
PNG is lossless, so it can only be re-packed, not reduced in quality. Convert it to WebP for a much smaller file that keeps transparency, or to JPG for photos.
Does compressing remove photo information?
Yes. Re-encoding drops hidden metadata such as camera details and GPS location, which also makes the files more private to share.
PDF tools
Edit PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Can I change the text that's already in the PDF?
Yes. Choose Edit text and click a line. The editor covers the original words and writes your new text in the same position, size and colour, using the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier). It works best for short changes like names, dates and prices; scanned pages have no editable text.
Is the edited text real text or an image?
Real, selectable text for Latin letters and numbers. Text in scripts the standard PDF fonts don't cover, like Urdu or Arabic, is added as a sharp image so it still looks right.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Use the Undo and Redo buttons or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. Nothing is saved into the PDF until you click Download.
Sign PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Is this a legally binding signature?
It is a simple electronic signature, which many countries accept for everyday agreements. Some documents need a certificate-based digital signature or a handwritten one; check what the recipient requires.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. Draw the signature with your finger, then drag it into place on the page.
Fill PDF Form
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
My form has no fields. Can I still fill it?
Yes. Click anywhere on the page with the Add text tool and type. You can change the size and colour of the text to match the form.
Will my answers stay editable?
Answers typed into the form's own fields stay in those fields. Text added with Add text becomes part of the page.
Merge PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
There is no fixed limit. Very large merges use more memory, so if your browser slows down, merge in smaller batches and then merge the results.
Will the merged PDF lose quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-compressing, so the merged file looks exactly like the originals.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Open them with the password in your PDF reader, save a copy without protection, then merge that copy.
Split PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are in the original file, including vector text and embedded images, so there is no quality loss.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas. "1-3, 7, 10-" creates three PDFs: pages 1 to 3, page 7, and page 10 to the end of the document.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first. Open the file in your PDF reader with the password, save a copy without protection, then split that copy.
Organize PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Can I undo a deleted page?
Yes. Deleted pages stay in the grid, faded, until you download. Click the restore button on a page to bring it back.
Does rotating a page change its quality?
No. Rotation only changes how the page is displayed. The page content is not redrawn.
Is there a page limit?
The organizer shows up to 300 pages. For longer documents, split the file first, organize each part, then merge them back together.
Rotate PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The new orientation is saved into the PDF, so it opens rotated in every viewer.
Can I rotate pages in different directions?
Yes. Select some pages, choose an angle, and rotate them. Then select other pages and rotate them by a different angle before downloading.
PDF to Image
Open tool →Which image format should I choose?
Use PNG for text-heavy pages and diagrams, JPG for scans and photos, and WebP when you want the smallest files for the web.
What DPI should I use?
150 DPI suits most uses. Choose 300 DPI for printing or zooming into fine detail, and 72 DPI for quick, lightweight previews.
Is there a page limit?
There is no fixed limit, but very large documents at 300 DPI use a lot of memory. If your browser slows down, convert fewer pages at a time or lower the resolution.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Image to PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Will my photos lose quality?
No. JPG images are embedded without re-encoding, and PNG and WebP images are stored losslessly.
Why was my phone photo sideways in other tools?
Phones often save photos sideways and add a note saying how to rotate them. Many converters ignore that note. This tool reads it, so photos appear upright in the PDF.
Which page size should I pick?
Use A4 (most of the world) or Letter (US and Canada) for documents you will print or upload to forms. Use Fit to image for screenshots and designs.
Add Page Numbers
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Can I leave the cover page without a number?
Yes. Tick "Skip the first page". Numbering then begins on page 2, starting from the number you set.
Which characters are supported?
Numbers and Latin text such as "Page" or "Seite" are supported. Scripts like Arabic, Urdu or Chinese are not available in the built-in PDF font.
Watermark PDF
Open tool →Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Can someone remove the watermark?
A determined person with PDF editing software can remove any text watermark. Tiled watermarks are much harder to remove cleanly than a single stamp.
Which characters can I use?
Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation are supported. Scripts like Arabic, Urdu or Chinese are not available in the built-in PDF font.
