Convert Word to PDF

Turn a Word document into a PDF that looks the same on every device. Text formatting, lists, tables, pictures, page size, headers and footers are carried over.

Click or drag & drop a .docx file

Result

Upload a .docx file and click Convert to see the PDF pages here.

Document stays private

Your .docx file is read and converted inside this browser tab, never uploaded.

Formatting carried over

Headings, lists, tables, pictures, headers and footers are laid out again.

Selectable text

Latin-alphabet text stays real text, so the PDF can be searched and copied.

Word documents to PDF without uploading them

The converter opens your .docx file inside this browser tab and lays out each page again: paragraph spacing, indents and alignment, bold, italic, underline, colours and highlights, bulleted and numbered lists, tables with merged cells, borders and shading, pictures, links, page breaks, and the header and footer with page numbers.

It uses the page size and margins saved in the document, or you can switch to A4 or Letter. Text in Latin-alphabet languages becomes real, selectable PDF text. Words in other scripts, such as Urdu, Arabic or Chinese, and emoji are placed as sharp images so they always display correctly.

Because the layout is rebuilt in the browser rather than by Word itself, the result is close but not always identical: lines can break in slightly different places and fonts you don't have installed are replaced with similar ones. If you need an exact copy and have Word, its own Save as PDF is the most faithful option.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload your .docx file.
  2. 2Choose the page size and whether to include the header and footer.
  3. 3Click Convert to PDF and check the preview.
  4. 4Download the PDF.

When to use it

  • Sending your CV as a PDF so the recruiter sees exactly the layout you made in Word.
  • Submitting assignments or applications to portals that accept PDF only.
  • Converting a document on a computer that doesn't have Word installed.
  • Making a read-only copy of a contract or letter before sharing it.
  • Keeping a fixed copy of a document before it goes out for signature or review.

Options explained

Page size "As in document" keeps the paper size and margins saved in the Word file. Choose A4 or Letter to fit the content onto that paper instead, for example when a US Letter document will be printed in Europe.

Header & footer controls whether repeating headers and footers, including page numbers, are drawn on every page. Leave them out for a clean copy of the body text only.

What converts well, and what doesn't

Letters, CVs, reports, essays and forms with normal paragraphs, lists and tables convert well. Complex layouts are simplified: floating text boxes and wrapped images, multi-column sections and fonts missing from your device can shift the layout.

Old .doc files (Word 97–2003) aren't supported. Open them in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, save as .docx, and convert that file. Documents up to 100 MB can be converted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.

Will the PDF look exactly like my Word document?

Close, but not always identical. The pages are rebuilt in your browser, not by Word, so line breaks and spacing can differ slightly and missing fonts are replaced with similar ones. Charts, SmartArt and floating objects may be simplified. Check the preview before you download.

Can I convert old .doc files?

Not directly. Open the .doc file in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and save it as .docx (Word Document), then convert that file here.

Is the text in the PDF selectable?

Yes, for Latin-alphabet languages such as English, French or German. Text in other scripts and emoji is drawn as sharp images so it displays correctly, which means those words can't be selected or searched.

Is there a file size limit?

Documents up to 100 MB can be converted. Very long documents with many pictures take longer and need more memory, so a computer handles them better than than an older phone.

Is it free?

It is. We don't ask for an account, and the PDF comes out without any watermark or branding of ours.
