Upload a PDF and click Summarise. The summary and your questions appear here.

Only text is sent

The PDF stays on your device; just its text goes to the AI, and it isn't stored.

Summaries your way

Short to detailed, as key points, a paragraph or an executive summary.

Ask the document

Follow-up questions are answered from the PDF's own text.

Read less, understand more

Long PDFs take time to read. The summarizer reads the text of your document in your browser and asks our AI to condense it: a list of key points, a short paragraph overview, or an executive summary with the decisions and actions it contains. Choose how long it should be and which language to write it in.

Ask questions to find what you need without searching through pages, such as "What is the notice period?", "Which risks are mentioned?" or "What are the totals?". Answers are based only on the document, and the AI is told to say so when the answer isn't in it.

Long documents are summarised in parts and the notes combined into one summary. Scanned PDFs are pictures with no text inside, so run them through OCR PDF first. AI summaries can miss nuance, so check important details against the document.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload your PDF.
  2. 2Choose the summary length, format and language (and the pages, for long files).
  3. 3Click Summarise PDF.
  4. 4Ask follow-up questions, then copy or download the result.

What people use it for

  • Getting the gist of an 80-page annual report on the train before the meeting.
  • Pulling out deadlines, amounts and obligations from a contract or policy.
  • Turning meeting papers into a short list of decisions and actions.
  • Reading a document written in another language in your own.
  • Preparing for a meeting or exam by asking targeted questions about a long document.

Summary options explained

Length can be short, medium or detailed. Key points gives a bulleted list that is quick to scan; Paragraph gives flowing prose; Executive summarises the purpose, main findings, decisions and next steps, which suits reports and proposals.

The summary can be written in any of 36 languages, whatever language the PDF is in. For long files, choose a page range to focus on one section. The result can be copied or downloaded as a .md or .txt file.

Limits and accuracy

  • Up to 60,000 characters are sent per request, and documents up to 180,000 characters (about 60 pages of text) can be summarised in parts.
  • Each summary part and each question counts as one of your 40 daily AI document requests.
  • The AI is instructed to keep names, numbers and dates exact, but it can still make mistakes; verify anything important.
  • Scanned pages without text need OCR PDF first.

Privacy

The PDF file never leaves your device: the text is extracted in your browser, and only that text goes to our server and our AI provider for this request. It isn't stored and isn't used by us to train AI models. Don't use the AI tools for documents you aren't permitted to share with an outside service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

The PDF itself stays on your device: its text is read in your browser. Only that text is sent to our server and on to our AI provider to process your request. It isn't stored, and it isn't used to train AI models by us. Avoid using these AI tools for documents you aren't allowed to share with a third party.

Is it free? Are there limits?

Yes, it's free with no sign-up. Each visitor can make 40 AI document requests a day: every summary part, question or translated section counts as one. If the site's overall daily AI capacity is reached, the tools pause until the next day.

Can it summarise scanned PDFs?

Not directly: scanned pages are pictures with no text to read. Make the file searchable with OCR PDF first, then summarise the result.

How accurate are the summaries?

The AI is told to use only what's in the document and to keep names, numbers and dates exact, so summaries are usually reliable. It can still miss nuance or emphasis, so check anything important, such as legal or financial terms, against the original.

How long can the PDF be?

Documents with up to 180,000 characters of text can be summarised; they are processed in parts of up to 60,000 characters. For longer files, choose a page range and summarise one section at a time.

Can I get the summary in another language?

Yes. Choose any of 36 output languages, including English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Chinese and Japanese, regardless of the language the PDF is written in.
