Exact crops for every platform

Drag the corners or edges of the crop box, move it around, or type the exact position and size in pixels. Lock a shape such as square (1:1), portrait (4:5) or widescreen (16:9) so the box keeps its proportions while you resize it, and use the arrow keys for fine adjustments.

Social media presets set both the shape and the final pixel size each platform recommends, so your post is the right size before you upload it. The Circle shape and the 400 px profile picture preset make round images with a transparent background, saved as PNG.

Rotate in 90° steps, straighten a tilted photo with the fine rotation slider (up to 45° either way), and mirror the picture horizontally or vertically. Zoom in up to 400% to place the crop precisely. The download is cut from the full-size image, not the preview.

How to use it

  1. 1Add or paste an image.
  2. 2Pick a shape or a social media size, or crop freely.
  3. 3Drag the crop box, then rotate, straighten or flip if needed.
  4. 4Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and download the cropped image.

Social media sizes included

Platforms change their recommendations from time to time, so check the platform's help pages if an upload looks cropped.

  • Instagram square post: 1080 × 1080 px. Instagram portrait post: 1080 × 1350 px.
  • Instagram or TikTok story: 1080 × 1920 px.
  • YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720 px.
  • LinkedIn banner: 1584 × 396 px. X (Twitter) header: 1500 × 500 px. Facebook cover: 851 × 315 px.
  • Round profile picture: 400 × 400 px with transparent corners.

Tips for sharp results

  • Start from a photo at least as large as the preset. A product shot for a 1:1 Instagram post wants 1080 pixels on its short side; a small crop stretched up will look soft.
  • Leave space around faces and text in banners, because apps cover parts of them with profile pictures or buttons.
  • Use the straighten slider on horizons and buildings before cropping, then crop away the angled edges.
  • Choose PNG for graphics and transparent images, JPG or WebP for photos.

Output formats and quality

Save as PNG for lossless quality and transparency, or as JPG or WebP with a quality slider (default 92%) for smaller photos. Circle crops are always saved as PNG so the corners stay transparent. Location tags and camera details from the original don't follow the crop into the new file.

Picking the right shape

Square (1:1) is the safe choice for product listings, profile photos and marketplace thumbnails, because most apps show it without cropping. On Instagram, 4:5 portrait takes up more of the feed than a square, which is why many brands use it for posts.

16:9 matches YouTube thumbnails, TVs and presentation slides, while 9:16 is the full-screen phone format used by stories, Reels and TikTok. 3:2 is the shape most cameras shoot in and the shape of a standard 6 × 4 inch print, and 4:3 suits tablets and older digital cameras.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Your images never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

The crop itself doesn't: it keeps the original pixels of the area you choose. PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP use the quality you set (92% by default). Social presets resize the crop to the exact size, which can soften small images.

How do I make a round profile picture?

Choose Circle under Shape, or the Profile picture (400 px) preset. Position the circle over the face and download: you get a PNG with transparent corners that sits cleanly on any background.

Can I type an exact size?

Yes. Enter the position and width and height in pixels. With a locked shape, changing one side updates the other so the proportions stay the same.

Can I straighten a crooked photo?

Yes. Use the straighten slider for small angles up to 45° in either direction, and the rotate buttons for 90° turns. Then crop away the edges that the rotation leaves.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag the box and its handles with your finger, and use the zoom slider to place the crop precisely. The page fits small screens without sideways scrolling.

Is it free?

Yes, and there's no sign-up. The cropped image comes out clean, without any logo of ours on it.
