Numbering pages the way documents expect
Reports, theses and contracts usually need page numbers, and they are often missing from files exported by scanners or design tools. This tool draws the numbers onto each page in a clean sans-serif font.
Choose one of six positions, pick a format and set the size and margin. "Skip the first page" leaves a cover page unnumbered, and the start number lets you continue numbering from a previous document, for example starting at 21.
Rotated pages are handled correctly: the number is placed where the reader expects it and stays upright. Existing page content is not changed.
How to use it
- 1Upload the PDF you want to number.
- 2Pick the position and the number format.
- 3Optionally skip the first page or change the start number.
- 4Click Add Numbers & Download.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
Can I leave the cover page without a number?
Yes. Tick "Skip the first page". Numbering then begins on page 2, starting from the number you set.
Which characters are supported?
Numbers and Latin text such as "Page" or "Seite" are supported. Scripts like Arabic, Urdu or Chinese are not available in the built-in PDF font.
