Spreadsheets that print properly

Printing a spreadsheet often means wide tables cut in half and column titles that only appear on the first page. The converter reads your .xlsx or .csv file in the browser and lays each sheet out on PDF pages the way you choose.

Cells are shown the way Excel displays them: number, currency, percentage and date formats, the results of formulas, fonts, fill colours, borders, alignment, merged cells and column widths. Hidden rows, columns and sheets are left out, just as they are when Excel prints.

Fit to page width shrinks wide sheets so every column fits across the page; without it, extra columns continue on the following pages. Turn on gridlines for an Excel-like look, repeat the first row so every page has its column titles, and add the sheet name and page number at the bottom.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload an .xlsx, .xlsm, .csv or .tsv file.
  2. 2Tick the sheets to include.
  3. 3Choose paper, orientation, fit to width, gridlines and the repeated header row.
  4. 4Click Convert to PDF and download.

Good uses for Excel to PDF

  • Sending a 300-row price list or a quote that the customer shouldn't be able to change.
  • Sharing a report with people who don't have Excel.
  • Printing long tables with the column titles on every page.
  • Turning a CSV export from another system into a readable document.
  • Attaching a timesheet, schedule or budget to an email in a format anyone can open and print.

Page layout options

Paper can be A4 or Letter, in portrait or landscape. Landscape suits sheets with many columns; combine it with Fit to page width when you want every column on one page across.

Repeat first row prints your header row at the top of every page. Gridlines draws thin lines between cells, which helps on sheets that have no borders of their own. The footer option adds the sheet name and page number to each page.

Limits and what isn't included

  • Charts, pictures and shapes placed over the sheet are not drawn; only cells and their formatting.
  • Formulas show the results saved in the file. Files saved without results show those cells empty.
  • Each sheet can have up to 5,000 rows and 200 columns; anything beyond that is cut off with a note.
  • Files up to 100 MB can be opened.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.

Are formulas calculated?

The PDF shows the results Excel saved with the file, which is what you see when you open it in Excel. Files created by other programs without saved results show those cells empty; open and save them in Excel or LibreOffice first.

Are charts and images included?

No. The converter prints the cells with their values and formatting. Charts, pictures and shapes placed over the sheet are not included.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 100 MB can be opened, and each sheet can have up to 5,000 rows and 200 columns, which covers most reports. Larger sheets are cut off and you'll see a note saying so.

My table is too wide for the page. What should I do?

Turn on Fit to page width so all columns are scaled to fit across the page, and switch to landscape for more room. Without fitting, columns that don't fit continue on the following pages.

Can I convert only some sheets?

Yes. After uploading, untick the sheets you don't need. Hidden sheets are left out automatically.

Will the PDF keep my cell colours and borders?

Yes. Fill colours, borders, bold and italic text, font sizes, alignment and merged cells are drawn as they're saved in the file. Conditional formatting that Excel calculates on the fly isn't evaluated, so cells coloured only by a rule may come out plain.
